The Ellipsus quick-start guide

Modified on Thu, 16 Jul at 4:32 PM

This is a short guide covering some important details—getting started with documents, drafting, formatting, organizing your work, sharing, and more.

Getting started ✍️

When you open Ellipsus, you'll start on your Dashboard. From the dash, you can:

  • Access My work, where all your documents and folders live
  • View documents that have been shared with you, under Shared w/me
  • Organize your projects with folders
  • Search for your documents
  • Visit your settings page to set a password, avatar, or choose a theme

Once you’re familiar with your dash, it’s time to open a document and start exploring. You can create documents from your dashboard in three ways:

  1. Create a new document
  2. Create from a template
  3. Import an existing document

Understanding documents and drafts

In Ellipsus, every document has one main document and as many drafts as you need. A draft is a standalone copy of your document. You can use drafts to:

  • Collect feedback from betas or editors
  • Tinker with a new version of a scene
  • Store research or notes
  • Try something new—without affecting the main document
  • And (much) more!

Sharing, collaborating, and permissions

Ellipsus supports several roles to keep collaboration clear and intentional:

  • Document owner
  • Can merge
  • Can edit
  • Can comment
  • Can view

Ways to collaborate with others include real-time collaboration, comments and chat. You can also export your work, or share a snippet or Reader link.
