We want it to be easy to capture ideas, no matter where and when inspiration strikes. Setting up a progressive web app (PWA) offers easy access to Ellipsus so you can write, collaborate, comment, merge, and more, without the extra steps or browser tabs.
TABLE OF CONTENTS
Before you begin
The exact method to set up or "install" a PWA will depend on the device and browser you are using. We've tried to provide some general instructions, but they may not be exact for your specific scenario.
Additionally:
- The PWA still requires an active internet connection.
- Ellipsus does not control the PWA - your browser/device might show a weird icon, unexpected title, or other unexpected display quirks that are outside of our control.
- Some PWAs share with their “parent” browser. Others do not. This includes:
- Browser settings
- Extensions
- Cached data/storage access
- Local saves of your work
- Theme choice
- Spell check preferences
- Tab killing behavior: some browsers treat out of focus (meaning you’ve minimized or switched away from them) PWAs as inactive tabs and kill them, keeping them from writing to local storage and/or connecting to the synchronizer.
We strongly encourage you to research these things for your specific scenario — we cannot possibly know or cover every set of conditions.
